Property Preparation

Preparing for a Property Assessment

The information that makes the first review more useful.

Property Basics

Gather the property address or GPS-access point, county, approximate acreage, land use, livestock present, occupied structures, neighboring-property considerations, and the name of the person authorized to approve work.

Photos and Maps

Bring recent wide-angle and close-up photos, trail-camera images with correct timestamps, and a map showing damage, water, feeders, livestock areas, gates, roads, structures, and boundaries.

Activity History

Note when the concern began, how often activity occurs, seasonal patterns, previous management attempts, known travel routes, and recent changes in crops, feeding, water, construction, or neighboring activity.

Access and Hazards

Identify locked gates, poor roads, soft ground, livestock, guard animals, utilities, occupied buildings, public roads, neighboring homes, and any other hazards or restrictions.

Your Objectives

Be clear about the immediate concern and the desired outcome. A useful plan considers property protection, livestock, land use, timing, budget, access, legal requirements, and realistic limitations.
